Rio Tinto is one of the world's leading mining and exploration companies. Our activities span the world with production from every continent and in over 40 countries. Rio Tinto has been present in Perú since 1994. La Granja is the first project in Perú for Rio Tinto. This copper project is located in the district of Querocoto, province of Chota, region Cajamarca. The Rio Tinto Group obtained the project in late January 2006 through a public bidding process carried out by the Peruvian Government.
